Home Schooling Nightmare

Alert! Alert! New Information! So, I'm homeschooling this teenager. Friday, he doesn't show up to class. I call and text him. No answer. I was getting mad. I called his mother and she calls him. He uses the excuse that he was not feeling well and figured it would be okay not to come to class. What! I have other things to do besides be at his beck and call when he thinks he wants to do school work. This is the second time he has done this in the two weeks of homeschooling. I talked to his mom and told her if this happened one more time, than I was not going to continue homeschooling him. Blah! Why do teenagers think they rule the world?

Second week of home school

Alert! Alert! New Information! My home school student is going to start Spanish this week. WOW, so much fun. It's a good thing that was my minor. He has a test over nouns and Spanish vocab this week. Hopefully we can get more grammar covered this week and move on to some writing. He wants to try his hand at poetry. I can't wait for that. It seems high school boys have a natural ability for BSing their way through poetry. Hopefully the pictures from Halloween will be in this week. My home school student hates for his picture to be taken but I think I have him talked into a couple of pictures. We'll see. Well, wish me luck on the second week of homeschooling.

Me and my reading habit

Alert! Alert! New Information! This summer in a workshop a teacher told me about a book called Marked written by PC and Kristin Cast. He teachers with PC at Broken Arrow IS. He is actually mentioned in the book. It was funny because he said "I didn't know we had a vampire problem." I really didn't think anything else about it until school started. I was talking to one of my students about Twilight. Yes, I know I love vampire books. Anyway, she told me I needed to read Marked. So I did. Next thing I know I found my self at Wal-Mart in the middle of the night buying the next book, Betrayed. What can I say, this two women know how to write. The book follows the first book in detail to what life is like for a young fledging. It reminds me so much of a normal high school. Friends turn out to be enemies, while enemies turn into friends. Oh, and to top it off, not only does the main character have one boyfriend, but three. One is a mortal, one is another fledging, and the third is a professor at school. Oh, that is a BIG NO-NO, as all of us teacher know. I have read the third book Chosen, and now I am working on the fourth book, Untamed. I've slowed down on my personal reading due to the new home school thing, but hopefully I can finish the fourth book soon. It is amazing how I can't book stop thinking about what this girl is going through. Wow, I recommend reading the House of Night series if you like fantasy novels.

A crazy week

Alert! Alert! New Information! The Halloween party went great this year. The kids had a blast. I'll get some pictures posted in the next couple of days. I have started homeschooling a high school student from White Hall. Today was the first day. I have enlisted the help of my cousin, whom I tutor with. WE have split the load. I am working on the English and Spanish. She will be teaching the chemistry and algebra. We will taking turns teaching American History. Will it is not the same was working in my own classroom, at least it is practice on writing lesson plans and so forth. I'm looking forward to it, I think. LOL. Well, at least I have something to write about now.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Alert! Alert! New Information! Sorry it has been so long since my last post. Last time I was on here I told you all that I had been asked to resign as the tenth grade English teacher from Hampton. Well, God knows what he is doing. I'm back in White Hall and my son is so happy to be back with his friends. He is doing great in school. I have been tutoring some high school kids from White Hall. That seems to be going great. One student brought his grade up in English from a C to an A-. I have applied for an English teacher position at Lakeside in Hot Springs. The school board reviewed applications this week and hopefully they will know something this coming up week. Well everyone keep their fingers crossed for me.

Alert! Alert! New Information! I was asked to step down from my position as the tenth grade English and oral communication teacher at the school I was teaching at in south Arkansas. I was told that I lacked classroom management skills. I guess my blog is going to be boring for a little while. I have decided to move back to White Hall and sub at the schools in the area. The school I was at is in year six of school improvement and I was wondering if that could have anything to do with the situation. Any ideas?
